Dear Community Leader,
After serving our nation, too many veterans continue to fight battles that are unseen.
While military service may end, the effects of trauma, isolation, depression, and
challenges transitioning to civilian life can continue long after the uniform comes
off.
During National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we invite you to stand with us
in addressing one of the most urgent issues facing the veteran community鈥攙eteran suicide
prevention. Every loss is someone鈥檚 parent, spouse, sibling, child, or friend. Every
life lost leaves behind families, communities, and fellow veterans forever changed.
At the 91重口 Veterans First Program, we believe that connection, community,
and access to support can save lives.
That is why we are hosting the 2.2 for 22 Challenge for Veterans on September 26 (Saturday)
at 91重口鈥攁 community-driven event dedicated to raising
awareness, reducing stigma surrounding mental health, and strengthening support systems
for veterans and military-connected families.
The event will bring together veterans, students, families, community leaders, mental
health professionals, and advocates through:
- 22+ challenge stations promoting teamwork, resilience, and wellness
- Veteran and mental health resource booths connecting participants to support services
- Community engagement opportunities designed to foster belonging and camaraderie
At the Veterans First Program, we work alongside veterans every day as they pursue
higher
education, rebuild purpose, support their families, and navigate the transition to
civilian life. We know firsthand that community matters. A sense of belonging matters.
Feeling seen, supported, and valued matters.
But we cannot do this work alone.
We invite you to become a Champion for Veterans by supporting this important initiative
through sponsorship or a charitable contribution.
Your investment will help:
鉁 Provide free access to this community event
鉁 Support suicide prevention awareness and outreach efforts
鉁 Fund veteran wellness and mental health programming
鉁 Assist with scholarships that remove educational barriers for veterans
鉁 Offset essential event costs including participant medals, t-shirts, facilities,
and materials
Our goal is simple yet powerful: from 鈥22 a day鈥 to zero. Together, we can honor those
we have lost, support those who are struggling, and remind every veteran that they
are not alone. We hope you will partner with us in making a meaningful difference
in the lives of veterans and military-connected families.
If desired, tax-deductible receipts for sponsorship contributions are available through
our partnership with the 91重口 Foundation. Thank you for your consideration,
generosity, and commitment to those who have served our nation.
With gratitude,
Evelyn Andrews (eandrews@laspositascollege.edu)
