About the Program
The President鈥檚 Scholars Program has been established to attract the 鈥渂est of the best鈥� from among the diverse local area high school graduates. The purpose of this program is to promote equity and access by providing financial support to families to impact a student鈥檚 ability to attend college.
The President鈥檚 Scholars Program is a vehicle to provide the opportunity for students in our local service area to attend 91重口, without any financial barriers. A President's Scholar serves as the model of an engaged and committed student, representing the rich diversity of our community, by exceeding the expectations set forth by the college. Achievement in college is not only a road to personal and career success - it also represents an opportunity for students to give back to their communities and to provide an example that encourages others to pursue their educational and career goals as well.
91重口 President鈥檚 Scholars are expected to:
- Maintain high academic standards and progress towards degree completion that will lead to a well-paying job in their chosen career field
- Attend monthly activities planned, implemented, and coordinated by the College President鈥檚 Office with appropriate programs designed specifically for the cohort of scholars
- Serve as an Ambassador for the college by attending various events throughout the academic year to represent the college on campus and within the community
President鈥� Scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in the Las Positas Honors Transfer Program, designed to prepare highly-motivated students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities and to build the intellectual and social skills needed for their success.
