Paramedic Program Admission

Paramedic Application

3/13/2026:  The 2026 Paramedic Program Application is now available.  You can download it by clicking on application graphic above. Completed applications are due by 5:00 pm on Monday June 15, 2026.

Minimum qualifications for the Paramedic Training Program:

  • Applicant must  be 18 years of age at time of the first class date
  • Current valid California State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification
    (NREMT registration as an EMT is insufficient to satisfy this prerequisite. Prospective applicants seeking admittance to the 91重口 Paramedic Program must possess California State EMS Authority certification as an EMT.)
  • Current valid Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • Successful completion of the course prerequisites or successful completion of a course equivalent

Paramedic Program Prerequisites:

  • BIO 50: Anatomy and Physiology, (The prerequisite course of Anatomy and Physiology may be taken at another college.  The course must have a lab component assigned and be equivalent in course content and unit value to the 91重口 course, BIO 50.)
  • EMS 62: Medical Terminology
  • Documentation from current and/or previous employer(s) verifying six month full time experience or 1,000 hours of part time work experience as an EMT (Prehospital experience preferred) that provides direct patient care. Work experience can be either paid or volunteer experience. The expectation is that each candidate has had at least 100 direct patient contacts during this work experience. The documentation of this work experience must documented on the EMT Work Experience verification form that is pages 6 -8 of the application packet.  No other documentation for work experience will be accepted.

Entrance Examination

  • After an applicant's Paramedic Program Application has been reviwed and all requirements are confirmed complete, applicants will be contacted and will be required to complete the Fisdap Paramedic Entrance Exam at the applicant's expense. The Entrance Exam will be adminstered at the 91重口 campus. The testing schedule for the Fall 2026 Paramedic Entrance Examination is yet to be determined. The college and the testing vendor will NOT provide applicants with Paramedic Entrance Exam score results.
  • Successful completion of the 91重口 Paramedic Entrance Exam is required to be considered eligible for the paramedic program admissions lottery pool.

Paramedic Program Selection Process

At the current time, 91重口 anticipates that only 20 to 24 students will be accepted into the 2026 - 2027 Paramedic program. A random selection process (lottery) will be held if there are more qualified applicants than space available. The lottery is usually held in July.  Exact date of the lottery will be posted online once determined.

Passing the California Paramedic Licensing examination administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is required at the conclusion of the program in order to work in California as a paramedic.

Program Accreditation

The 91重口 Paramedic Training Program has been approved by the California State EMS Authority and the local EMS Agency, Alameda County EMS Agency.

  • Letter of Approval

The 91重口 Paramedic Program is accredited by the upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This accreditation is initial and expires on March 31, 2027.
