Drones In the News

Drones are an emergent technology which means there are an ever increasing number of ways we using them to help us solve human challenges. Our program is dedicated to learning about the unique and creative ways drones are entering our lives. Most importantly, we are determined to spread our knowledge to others, namely the next generation.

Below are links to inspiring stories occuring on our campus and beyond.

Beyond Campus

A method of additive manufacturing, that utilizes a team of aerial robots inspired by natural builders such as wasps who use collective building methods. An amazing scalable multi-robot three-dimensional (3D) printing and path-planning framework that enables robot tasks and population size to be adapted to variations in print geometry throughout a building mission. Large drones are being used for firefighting

A fixed-wing drone with a 14-foot wingspan capable of traveling at speeds up to 46 mph with a flight time of 8 hours. They are sent airborne just at dusk when other manned flights are grounded. The sky is theirs, and the overhead view they have of the fire is detailed and in real time. ()

QUEST Innovation Fair - 2022

Our students and faculty spent the day talking to a wide range of people about drones. We were amazed at the broad range of interests and thought provoking questions.

91ÖØ¿Ú hosts Summer Drone Camp - 2022

The STEM series of summer camps utilized our campus to offer a drone camp with students learning how to program drones using computer language. Part of the experience involved demonstrations by our Drone Tech Program and local industry experts. It was an opportunity to explore theory and practice in week-long experiences that blend hands-on exploration, problem-solving, and presentations by experts, combined with college credit.
