What Coordinators Need to Know About the Three-Year Assessment Cycle

  • All active courses must be assessed within each department at least once during the three-year cycle.
    • For courses that are part of a program:
      • As a department, you will decide which PSLO(s) will be assessed (at least one PSLO within the three-year cycle). On your planning template, you will indicate the program outcome(s) you have chosen and your reason for doing so. You will be able to use this explanation in your program review.
      • For programs with multiple degrees and certificates:
        • You must assess a PSLO for at least one of those degrees and certificates.
        • If you are assessing multiple degrees and certificates, you will need to submit a separate Three-Year Planning Template for each degree or certificate.
        • Courses that are not part of a degree or a certificate being assessed must be listed on the Non-Degree/Other Courses template.
        • You will then decide which CSLO(s) you will assess and during which semesters, making sure they align with the program outcome(s) that you are assessing.
    • For Student Service Area Outcomes (SAOs):

      • You will decide which SAO(s) you will assess and during which semesters.

All Three-Year Assessment Plans will be posted on the Student Learning Outcomes webpage.

Directions for Coordinators

  1. Complete the appropriate three-year template for a minimum of one program, certificate, and/or degree.
    1. Download the template or the Non-Academic Programs template.
    2. For all courses that fall outside of that program/PSLO, use the template.
  2. Submit completed templates to the SLO Committee Chair and the Curriculum & SLO Specialist by October 16, 2026.
  3. You may revise/change your plan(s) at any point of the cycle.
