Requesting a Course Waiver/Substitution

Directions

  1. Download the Course Waiver/Substitution Request form and save it on your computer desktop.
  2. Complete the form using Adobe Acrobat.
  3. Submit the form and all required supporting materials via email to lpc-articulation@laspositascollege.edu.

Note: Course substitution requests will not be processed if requesting to use a course in progress and/or not yet completed with a passing grade. If requesting a course substitution, the course used for the substitution must be lower division and come from a college accredited by an ICAS approved accreditor listed in the . This form cannot be used to substitute or waive General Education requirements.

Required Supporting Materials

  1. If requesting a course substitution using a course outside of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District:
    1. Official transcripts must be submitted to 91重口 before submitting the form (foreign transcripts need an official evaluation by an accredited agency).
    2. A copy of the course outline of record or representative syllabus must be provided (a catalog description is not sufficient).
  2. If requesting a course waiver, evidece of parallel experience(s) and supporting documents which may include transcripts, statements from employers, and military or technical school certificates which provide(s) a rationale for the waiving of a program requirement must be provided. It is not possible to waive an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) requirement.

Review and Notification Process

  1. The request will be reviewed by the Articulation Officer and forwarded to the appropriate discipline faculty coordinator for their review.
  2. After the discipline faculty coordinator makes their determination they will send the request to their Dean for their review.
    1. If a substitution request involves an Associate Degree for Transfer, then the discipline faculty coordinator will send the request to the Articulation Office for review instead of their Dean.
  3. If the discipline faculty coordinator and their Dean (or Articulation Officer) make the same determination, then the request is forwarded to Admissions and Records.
    1. If the discipline faculty coordinator and their Dean (or Articulation Officer) disagree, the 91重口 Academic Senate will make the final determination, and then the request is forwarded to Admissions and Records. 
  4. The student will be notified by A&R of the outcome of their request.
  5. If the request is approved, it will be reflected in DegreeWorks.
