  • Goal B: Start peer supports and engagements for 91重口 students along their Academic & Career Pathways.
  • Goal C: Pilot specializing in different areas around campus, such as the Basic Needs Program, Career & Transfer, Outreach, and Marketing, to understand the needs of our campus and support connecting students to resources.
  • Goal D: Enhance the 91重口 Student Ambassador Club to include more leadership training and volunteer/advocacy opportunities around campus.

Guided Pathways Student Ambassadors 2024-2025

Joanna Chiu

Jo

Hi! My name is Joanna Chiu (she/her). I鈥檓 a Computer Science major who identifies with the STEM pathway. My goal is to transfer to UCLA for a B.A. in CS and Linguistics, as I am interested in both computer science and the science of languages. I speak English and Chinese Mandarin fluently while having a minimal but functional understanding of Japanese and Taiwanese Hokkien. I鈥檝e noticed in previous years that students are not fully aware of all the resources available to them, so I firmly believe in bringing attention to all the readily available resources to students. I鈥檓 excited to be a Guided Pathways Ambassador again for this reason! In my free time, I enjoy video gaming, coding, and writing. If you ever see me on campus, feel free to say hi and ask any questions about transferring in general/transferring for CS!

Arya Ferozy

Arya

Hello everyone! My name is Arya Ferozy (he/him) and I am a first year student at Las Positas College. The main language I speak is English, although I can speak German at a level of limited working proficiency and understand Farsi. The academic and career pathway that I identify with is the STEME pathway (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Environment), as I am majoring in Physics. I hope to receive an AS in Physics and transfer to a four year university while being on the pre-med track. I am a generally artistic person, and love visual arts. I have done photography for around 2 years and have been editing for a little longer than that. I have always worked in spaces regarding representations of youth and students, and for that reason found that working as a Student Ambassador would be the right fit for me due to its emphasis on community involvement and representation of students.

Aanya Joshi

Hi! My name is Aanya Joshi (she/her). I鈥檓 majoring in Applied Mathematics and I identify with the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Environment pathway. I鈥檓 on track to get my AS degree in Mathematics. It鈥檚 my second year here at Las Positas and I鈥檓 a senior in the Middle College program. I speak English and Hindi fluently. My goal is to transfer or be admitted as a freshman to a UC, hopefully UC San Diego or UCLA! In my free time, I like to run long distances. I鈥檓 a half-marathoner and I like to watch movies. I鈥檓 really passionate about universal access to education and that鈥檚 why I am such a major advocate for community college. I want to help my fellow students on campus become more aware of the many resources that we have on campus that they might not have known are available to them!

Alberto Missael Moreno Herrera

Alberto

Hola, My name is Alberto Missael Moreno Herrera. I identify with the pronouns He/Him. I speak English, Spanish, and I am conversational in French (mais il y a beaucoup de choses que je dois apprendre). The career pathways I identify with are the Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Design pathway. My goal is to transfer to the UC system or the CSU system to get a Bachelor Degree in the Arts. I am a Film and Media Studies Major who has a big passion for storytelling and learning, analyzing, and living the human experience. A little background about myself is that this is my first year at 91重口 and I am a proud member of the Puente program. My hobbies include learning languages, watching movies, reading books, and exercising. I was Vice President of the National Honors Society at my high school, I am a Martial Arts Instructor, and I volunteer at my church. Because of those experiences, I understand the need for hard work, good communication, and recognising excellence in others, and as an ambassador I aspire to passionately advocate for you, the students!

Tyli Tam

Tyli

Hello! My name is Tyli Tam (she/her), and I鈥檓 a Communications major in the Language, Literature, and Communications Studies Pathway! In my free time, I love to relax by reading and embroidering in the park :) My goal is to achieve my Associate鈥檚 degree and attend SFSU or travel worldwide while attending ASU online. In my second year as a Guided Pathways Student Ambassador, I鈥檓 inspired to continue this profession as a Student Outreach Specialist after graduation. With this, I am incredibly excited to return to this program and continue spreading awareness of resources and support for fellow students. This year, I鈥檓 determined to collaborate on new initiatives to provide the best student experience at Las Positas!

Andr茅 Valle

Andre

My name is Andr茅 Valle (He/Him), and I am a 2024 Middle College and Granada High School graduate. In my free time, I love working out, swimming, watching sunsets, and spending time with friends and family.I am on track to graduating with Associate鈥檚 degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and Liberal Arts, hoping to transfer to UCLA. I am currently on the Society, Culture, and Human Development pathway and speak English and Spanish. When I began my educational journey, I had no idea what career I wanted to pursue or even the area of study I wanted to follow. Thankfully, Las Positas has allowed me to discover my passions and pursue my ambitions. I am a big advocate for community college (especially 91重口), and I want to help others who are undecided delve into their passions!

Jennifer Karake

Hi, my name is Jennifer Karake (she/her), and I am a first-year college student. As a Biology major, I identify with the STEME pathway (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Environment). I aim to transfer to UC Davis and graduate with a B.A. in Animal Science and Management before applying to veterinary school. I speak English but have been learning French for 7 years, so I know a few words and phrases. I鈥檓 also a BSU officer, an Umoja student, and a MESA member. I enjoy crocheting, reading, studying veterinary medicine, and watching reality TV in my free time. I鈥檓 excited to work as an ambassador to reach out to the 91重口 community and help support them on their journeys, just as they have supported me, bringing more students into the loop about the copious amounts of resources awaiting them!
