Engineering Technology

Engineering Technology provides students with foundational knowledge in mathematics, critical thinking, problem solving, and engineering design, as well as skills in manufacturing, fabrication, and welding so that students are able to adapt to the ever-changing modern industrial workplace. Graduates of the program may assume employment as mechanical technicians, mechanical technologists, stationary engineers, or in other applied engineering fields and collaborate with scientists, engineers, designers, and manufacturing professionals.

Gateway to Success provides students with a learning community that encourages the completion of certificates and degrees in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) especially for first generation and low-income students. Students are placed in a cohort learning community model and are provided with major and career exploration opportunities, job and internship placement, student success workshops, and mentor panels. Graduates of the program are encouraged to transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Puente Project

The Puente Project is national-award winning program aimed to increase the transfer-going rate of educationally disadvantaged students. The Puente Project combines accelerated instruction, intensive academic counseling, and mentoring by members of the community. Graduates of the program are encouraged to transfer to four-year colleges and universities and return to their communities as leaders and mentors for future generations.

Umoja Program

The Umoja Program is a two-semester college success program and learning community that provides a dedicated support system to help students reach their academic goals and find their life purpose. Students are introduced to English curriculum focused on the African-American experience through literature, history, and artistic modalities. Graduates of the program are encouraged to transfer to four-year colleges and universities and return to their communities as leaders and mentors for future generations.
