Hi! I have been working in the ECE field since 1990. I'm originally from Chicago, lived in the Twin Cities, and Pasadena, and now live in the Bay Area. I've taught children from infants up to 11-year-olds, as well as hosting parent workshops and parent-child classes. Since 2006, I've also been a diversity/equity consultant to schools, conducting workshops on anti-bias education and family relationships. I have been a college instructor for over 20 years, at both the AA and master's degree levels, and have been at 91重口 since 2009. I find children endlessly fascinating and believe that teachers are among the world's heroes. I can't wait to meet you.

Below, you can see some of the professional work I've done outside of 91重口, including articles, books I have contributed to, podcasts, and YouTube interviews.

"I hope you know that you are worth fighting for, and that you can break generational cycles. I hope you know you are strong enough to get back up one more time. I hope you know that you don鈥檛 have to have everything figured out right now. And I hope you know that your past does not define you. There are consequences for actions, yes, but you get to decide how to move forward from here. .. These babies deserve nothing less. Until next time, let them underestimate you鈥 Then prove them wrong." K.V. Meadows, author

I was brought to the field when I was looking for a preschool program for my child. I ended up in a CO-OP Preschool and discovered how much I love spending time with children. I worked as a nanny, family childcare provider (at home), Specialist (Head Teacher) and ECE Professional Development Coordinator.

-I like the idea of impacting the life of many children through the students I teach.

I have been working in the field of education and early childhood for 27 years, and I have never had a job that didn鈥檛 involve children in some way! Over the years, I have worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, high school students, college students, educators, and families. I鈥檓 also a mom of five children, currently ages 13鈥19, who have taught me just as much about children and development as my professional experiences have. Both of my parents were teachers, so I like to say that teaching is in my blood. One of my favorite things about what I do is 鈥渢eaching big people how to work with little people.鈥 I love getting to know my students, learning from their different experiences and perspectives, and having the opportunity to share a field that I truly love with others.

Hello Everyone, I'm Theresa Mailander Maier. I've been in the field of ECE for 13 years, having started my journey here at 91重口 as a student. After attaining my AA in ECD I received my bachelor's and my master's degree from different universities, and I boomeranged back to 91重口 as an ECE Specialist at our Child Development Center and as an Adjunct Instructor in our ECE Department. I am also an Adjunct Instructor at CSU East Bay in their Teaching Department. I am very passionate about fostering relationships between children, families and centers, trauma informed care, and student success. Looking forward to meeting and knowing you.
