CalWORKs & CARE

Adopt A Family

California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) is a public assistance program providing financial support for low-income parents and their children.

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) supports EOPS students who are single parents receiving cash aid through CalWORKs or Tribal TANF.

What is Adopt A Family?

Each year, the CalWORKs & CARE programs host Adopt-A-Family to support our student parents during the holiday season. For many of our families, the added financial pressure at this time of year can be overwhelming. Adopt-A-Family helps ease that burden by connecting generous campus and community members with students who could use extra support.

Through this program, donors can adopt a child, adopt an entire family, or contribute through direct donations. Every act of giving brings joy, stability, and relief to student parents working hard to pursue their educational goals.

Our CalWORKs & CARE families regularly share that Adopt-A-Family provides more than gifts鈥攊t creates a sense of belonging, hope, and community connection during a time that can feel challenging. We are grateful each year for the generosity that makes this event so meaningful, and we invite you to join us in this special tradition.

Ways You Can Support

Adopt a Child or Family: Sign up to adopt a child or family and purchase items from their holiday wish lists.

Donate Toys, Gift Cards, or Essentials: If you prefer not to adopt, you may donate new toys, gift cards, or essential items. All contributions go directly to CalWORKs & CARE families.

Give to the Adopt-A-Family Fund: Direct donations allow our team to purchase gift cards, holiday items, and unmet needs on behalf of families.
