John Gomez

Career Profile

Dr. John F. Gomez is an education administrator with more than two decades of experience advancing student success, leading cross functional teams, and strengthening equity centered institutional practices. His work emphasizes collaborative leadership, data informed decision making, and the development of inclusive environments that support diverse learners.

Dr. Gomez holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Evergreen Valley College, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and a Master of Arts in Sociology from San Jos茅 State University, and a Doctor of Education from California State University, Stanislaus.

Role at Las Positas College

Dr. John F. Gomez serves as the Director of Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Program at 91重口, where he provides visionary leadership for the HSI Student Ambassador Program and advances strategic efforts to promote educational equity and student success for Hispanic/Latine and other underrepresented populations. With a strong commitment to inclusive excellence, Dr. Gomez oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of federally funded HSI initiatives, ensuring full compliance with grant regulations while cultivating student leadership, belonging, and academic achievement.

Leadership Experience 

Dr. John F. Gomez spent several years was an educational administrator in higher education, county office of education and local school districts. Dr. Gomez has experience with planning, data analysis, enrollment services, outreach, research initiatives, and program monitoring. He has directed interdepartmental projects, aligned operations with organizational goals, and collaborated with public agencies and community partners. Dr. Gomez has supervised personnel and advanced a culture of accountability and excellence. 

Teacher and Academic Engagement

Dr. John F. Gomez also serves as an associate faculty member with the San Jose Evergreen Community College District, teaching Introduction to Sociology, Race & Ethnic Relations, and Social Problems. His pedagogy centers on critical inquiry, social awareness, and the belief that education can transform lives. Dr. Gomez fosters classroom environments where diverse perspectives are respected and students are encouraged to think analytically about social structures and inequities.
